
Regent College is a Foreign Language Teacher Training College. It is located in a handsome period town house in the center of Elbląg.
The Academic Supervisor of Regent College is Professor David Malcolm. He is appointed by the University of Gdańsk to ensure that the highest possible academic and pedagogical standards are maintained at Regent. Malcolm is a professor in the English Institute of the University of Gdańsk and has taught at universities and colleges in the USA, Japan and Poland.
Regent College is a private teacher training college with all the rights of a public educational institution, and its students have the same rights as those of universities. Regent College has the largest number of students of English language and literature among all such private colleges in Poland.
Regent College came into existence as a result of the decision of the Polish Ministry of Education and Sport of 1 October 2002 (DPZD-WK-4000-48/2002/BS). The founding institution is “Regent” Language School in Elbląg.
Regent College is supervised by the University of Gdańsk.
Regent College offers a three year course of studies leading to the degree of licencjat (BA) in English language and literature. After three years of study successful students receive a diploma from the College. After successfully defending a thesis in English language or literature, students receive the title of licencjat (BA) in English language and literature from the University of Gdańsk. They can then apply for admission to MA courses of study at any university of their choice.
Regent College also has an innovative zero year. This is an intensive year long course which aims to prepare students for admission to the first year at Regent. Its aim is to raise the language skills of students to the level necessary in the first year at Regent College.
